For all of Britain's many detractors and flaws, some downright appalling, it is actually a great country albeit one addled with problems and beset by evil times. Being British was said to "mean something" once upon a time, and though it still does to some extent, it has changed considerably. I love Britain for all that is naturally great about it as well as all the positive things it has done over the years; and there is so much more it can do when challenged to do so in the future beyond.

Some additional thoughts:
My life has long revolved around natural history, palaeontology and a range of such other fields. The story of the earth is most impressive to me, being of first consideration to me when thinking about most things in life, putting everything into perspective. ..................................................................
The life which inhabits our beautiful world, comes in myriad forms with countless functions and adaptations, and there is a beauty and horror to it all in certain contexts - the great, duelling dichotomies of the universe, as I have long seen them to be. Dichotomy, contrast and unity is everywhere; the sum of all existence.
Balance is central to this, and regardless of what we choose to believe, or even know to be true, that balance will encompass everything and all to the end of time itself. Wilderness infused with order, roads leading to nowhere, nowhere leading new paths ahead.
The wild is natural, with civilisation only ever a construct we maintain conceptually, and by sheer will, yet also with some measure of unknowing innocence as we walk forward into the abyss.
A balance must exist; the contrast must be found and the central truth obtained from the effort. Order versus Chaos, the Light shone through the Dark, forever entwined. .....................................................................
There is a true vastness in time and space which engulfs every single one of us, no matter how much some may wish to blatantly, blissfully ignore it. We should be a cooperative species, stewards of our magnificent marble in the cosmos. Earth is our bastion, and we should take better care of our home; and any other place humankind dares to tread or deems to love. ....................................................................
